Capital City Gymnastics Club!

Capital City Gymnastics Club - The start of a new season - Recreational Rhythmic Gymnasts from 8-13 years.

   

Level 2 Technical Course in Calgary!

The NCCP Level 2 Technical Course introduces coaches to the needs of developing athletes preparing for Provincial level competition and Gymnaestrada performances. Emphasis will be placed on physical preparation, teaching and analysis of body and apparatus technique and creating simple individual and group choreography. In addition, information about the FIG Code of Points and the Interclub and Provincial Stream Program and adjudication forms will be reviewed.

Natasha Pavlovic will teach the judging portion of the course on Saturday November 5th from 4:00-8:00pm at the JuneWarren-Nickle's Energy Group building located at 816-55 Ave NE. Park on the south side of the building and come through the double glass doors then take the stairs to the second floor.

The second part of the course will focus on body and apparatus technique and is tentatively scheduled to run on Saturday November 26th. Facility and instructor to be confirmed. The third and final part of the course will focus on group and individual choreography. Date, time, facility and instructor to be confirmed.

To register, complete the registration form and send it with your cheque and consent forms to RGA before the November 3rd deadline. Applications will be accepted by fax and email but will not be considered finalized until payment is received.

Coaches Wanted and Needed!

Clubs are looking for that special coach who will have a sense of fun when working with youngsters, and make kids feel special and welcome as they start their classes in Rhythmic Gymnastics. If you are a coach in another gym discipline you probably have lots of experience in class management, planning, circuits and physical literacy so please apply, and we will ensure that you are well trained by our certified learning facilitators in beginner apparatus technique. Please go to the "Coaching" section on the left to find job posts or courses.

GCG Awards

Long Term Service Awards went to Olga Khabarova, Natasha Pavlovic and Cassandra Chau at the recent Gymnastics Canada awards dinner in Ottawa. They join many other Albertans who have been honoured for their contribution to Gymnastics Canada as volunteers, leaders, meet directors, coaches, judges, and course conductors.

Alpha at the Oil Kings game

Check out these pictures from the Oil Kings Play-Off Game performance by Alpha Rhythmic Gymnastics. The Oil Kings didn't do too well against the Red Deer Rebels but the performance was a hit on the Jumbo-tron! Congrats to the coaches and performers.

   

"Time to Shine" in Alberta

Chinook in BC

Chinook gymnasts enjoyed a weekend at Camille Marten's gym in Vernon and did very well at the competition. Congratulations to Marina, Nina, Jenia, and Nicole.

Star Cup in Silver Springs, GA

Welcome back and congratulations to the Chinook Gymnasts who competed February 18-20 at the Star Cup in Silver Springs, GA. They all did well against strong international competitors from Japan, Cyprus, Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S.A.. Congratulations to Liza, Leah, Iveta, Katarina, Gayle and Caitlyn for their excellent results.

   

Great start for 2011

Canada's Team A won Bronze at the Montreal International Invitational. They were competing against athletes from 10 countries and three continents, including Team Gold medalists from the USA and Team Silver medalists from Finland. Fellow competitors included Albertans Marina, Nina, and Liza from Chinook Rhythmique and Anasatasia from Edmonton Rhythmics.
